Imagine you are a shepherd, how can you have your own sheep? Simply by purchasing it.

1 Cor 6:20: you were brought with a price.

What is the price?

Rev 5:9: …You were slain and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe, language and people and nation.

John 10:11: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep”.

Jesus Christ the Son of God, the good shepherd gave His life by shedding His blood and by His own blood He purchased you and me! You don’t belong to yourself but to Jesus who purchased you. And He is shepherd to those who believe Him and acknowledge Him as shepherd!

Is there any benefit of Jesus being your Shepherd?

Let’s read one of the famous chapters of the Bible Psalm 23 and see what are the benefits you have when Jesus is your shepherd.

Let’s read verse by verse and know what the benefits are when Jesus is your shepherd;

1.     I shall not be in want:

When Jesus is your shepherd you will lack no good thing Ps 34:10.

He will provide all your need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:19.

For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 1 Pet 2:25.

2.     He will provide you food and water:

They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat upon them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.  Isa 49:10.

I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. Eze 34:14-15.

3.     He will satisfy your soul:

I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. Pro 4:11

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Ps 143:10

For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. Ps 48:14

4.     He will protect you:

When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. Deut 20:1

They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support.       2 Sam 22:19

The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Ps 118:6

 5.     He brings peace between you and your enemies:

LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. Ps 16:5

Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. Ecc 9:8

6.     His goodness and love will follow you all your days.

I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah Ps 61:4

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. Ps 27:4

After Jesus has done and been doing all these things the prime thing you should do as His sheep is to desire to dwell in His presence all the days of your life!!

As you are reading this blog, let’s ask God to be your shepherd, and you surrender your body, soul and spirit to Him so that He will take you and lead you according to His plans and purpose. And love God with all your heart and mind and love to be with Him always.

May the might God bless you to be a Blessing to the world around you!!

Blessings,

Jeevan n Leena
