Hi dear Friend,

Greetings to you in Jesus name.

I am glad to share few things that God has been teaching me since few weeks.

Today I would like to share few things on why we should fast?

Before we discuss on why to fast? It is important should we fast! Matt 6:16: “When you fast”, Jesus didn’t say “if you fast”. We have to fast because fasting is a part of our Christian life! The Pharisee was so proud that he fasted twice a week which ended up in religious bondage. Luke 18:12.

Fasting is not punishment! You don’t fast to put God in compulsion that He has to give whatever you want and ask for.

Every time you fast, you make your flesh weaker because for too long you are driven by its needs and its passions; your body/flesh has been your greatest enemy as a child of God but when you fast you bring yourself off of the throne and sets Jesus back on the throne of your life! Paul says, “I beat my body and make it my slave” 1 Cor 9:27.

A child of God is either driven by his fleshly desires or the Holy Spirit! It cannot be both. You cannot serve two masters Matt 6:24.

If you are driven by fleshly desires, you will bring forth the fruit of the flesh according to Gal 5:19-21 if you are driven by the Holy Spirit you will bring forth the fruit if the Spirit that are listed in Gal 5:22-23.

How will you know who is driving your life?

Look at the fruit that you are producing! A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and the bad tree cannot bear good fruit, you will recognize by its fruit! Matt 7:18-20.

If you are a person who is led by the Holy Spirit, you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bring forth fruit in its season, his leaf will not wither and he shall be prosperous in whatever he does. Ps 1:3. A person who is led by his flesh will experience exactly opposite things.

Fasting will make you mindful of God and His plans, His desires and His will not the other way around! It will bring you to a place where you say “Not my will, but yours be done”. It’s nothing about you and all about Him. You be decreased and He be increased.

Fasting will finish when you reach to a place where you say “I have been crucified with Christ, it’s no longer I who lives but Christ in me and the life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”. Gal 2:20

Unless you die, God cannot be alive in you! Unless you give up, He will not take over your life.

As we are getting closer to 2015, I encourage you to take a break and seek God with fasting that He will take everything that’s hindering Him to work in your life and set you on track for the year of supernatural birthings!

God bless you,

In His service,

Jeevan and Leena.
