Hello dear friend,

Greetings to you in Jesus name.

I have been pastoring in different places with different people group for nearly 10 years, and there’s one common thing that has bothered me a lot in church ministry than any other thing and that’s ‘why people don’t come to church on Sunday?’

As a pastor, we care for people and want to see them grow in the Lord and the only day we get time to speak into people’s life is on Sunday at the church service. (Other days also we should meet, talk, pray with them and stand with them no matter what, because they are the people God entrusted us with).

One thing I want you to understand that church is not four walls. What makes those four walls special is our worship, when we worship Him together, the way He is supposed to be worshiped He chooses to manifest Himself. God is everywhere, but He doesn’t manifest Himself everywhere.

When the people of God come together to worship God, we bring the God of heaven down in our midst. Sadly people think they are missing a service, but the truth is they miss their meeting with God who made them, they miss hearing Him, they miss talking to them, they miss seeing Him, they miss God in His fullness. Trust me the presence of God is priceless.

We as a church should be willing to give up everything to meet Jesus, not giving up Jesus to do everything we want.

Today I would like to share few reason why people won’t come to church for fellowship?

  1. Disappointment on God stops you from coming to church.

The reason we have so many lost sheep in the church is because, they expect something for themselves and when that doesn’t happen they back off. You don’t come to God only for healings, for miracles, for jobs, for blessings….. We come to Him for He is our God.

We the people of God should fall in Love with Him all over again and say ‘where can we go God, You are all we have and we don’t need anything, You are all we want.’ John 6:68 (paraphrased)

If God answers your prayers and fulfills your heart desires, Praise God. If He doesn’t answer you yet as His child you should continue to praise Him. Anyone can trust Him and love Him when everything is going the way you want it to be, but your love and trust in Him is displayed in the tough times.

Job said, Even if the Lord slays me, I will trust in Him. Job 13:15. The richest man of his time, sitting in ashes when he lost everything, and that is what he said.

Job was a man who love God, worship God and trusted in Him, when things change He didn’t neither His heart for God. How about you?

  1. Being busy can stop you from coming to church.

People are so caught up in the work that they don’t have time for God.

Family, friends, relatives, job, business games/sports and every good thing you have is a gift and blessing from God.

Sadly, the things God has blessed you, are stopping you from coming to Him.

The bible consists of people who were prime ministers like Joseph and Daniel, kings like David, queen like Esther had time for God to seek Him, Are you busy than they were?

The disciples who changed the world upside down had all their time for God.

You don’t have time for the God who gave you time here on earth? C’mon!

  1. Boredom can hinder you to coming to church.

People don’t come to church because they think it’s a boring place.

I think we can blame the church for not displaying the joy presence of God the way they are supposed to, but at the same time, you shouldn’t come to church just for fun, picnic or music.

Well, the reason why people don’t enjoy church and the presence of God is their focus is not God, when God becomes your focus, you will enjoy every single minute in the church.

If you fall in love with a person – Jesus, it doesn’t matter where you are and who’s watching you and what going around, you would still feel the warmth of His embrace.

For ex: if you see a young boy and girl who are in love with each other, when they come to park, they will find their place of love and forget the world around them, they don’t care how the climate is, they don’t care who’s watching them, they don’t care about anything but enjoy one another’s fellowship.

This couple doesn’t need anything to add the joy that they already have, if the climate is favorable and some good music is played, it adds to what they already have.

When you come to church this should be our attitude. You are so in love with God that you don’t want anything else but Him, if the music is good and word is good, it adds to the love you already have.

What you love is what you enjoy, what you enjoy is what you celebrate. Enjoy God, enjoy His fellowship.

Dear friend, I want to conclude with this one thing ‘fall in deeper love with your church”.

As you are reading this post, I pray that God will pour out new love for Him, love that uncontainable, incomparable and unexplainable by which you will enjoy and celebrate Him, and fresh anointing to make yourself free to seek Him with your brothers and sisters in the Lord and new level of grace to never doubt His goodness over your life. AMEN

With much love and prayers,

In His service,

Jeevan & Leena
