Hello dear friend,
Greetings to you in Jesus name.
One of the things that we have often asked by the people where we go to minister is ‘please pray for my spiritual growth’.
This prayer request excites me, because there is nothing more than you could ask for as a minister of God that people want to grow in the Lord, but I also feel apart from teaching them ‘how to grow’ and ‘pray for them’, there is nothing more I can see them grow in the Lord.
I believe teaching God’s word to the people of God and standing with them in prayers is a great privilege.
Today I would like to share few things that will help you grow spiritually.
- Desire to grow:
The first and the important thing you need to have to grow spiritually is a DESIRE. Your growth in God depends on the desire you have for Him.
David says, as the deer pants for the water so my soul longs for you. Ps 42:1.
O God, you are my God, I earnestly search for you, my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you…… Ps 63:1.
The above verse clearly says that David was desperate for God. Desiring God is different than being desperate for God.
Being desperate for God is deeper and greater than just desiring. Desiring can just be from your flesh (senses) and soul (will, mind and emotions) but desperation is the cry of your spirit (heart).
Your pursuit for God is dependent on your desperation for God.
I pray, as you are reading this post may you be more desperate for God, may you pursue Him greatly!!
- God wants you to grow:
More than you want to grow, God wants you to grow. And, God has provided everything needed for you to grow. Your measure of growth is Jesus (don’t compete with anyone).
God chose you to grow. Jesus said, you did not choose me, I chose you so that you can bear fruit. John 15:16
The word fruitfulness means growth.
Your fruitfulness depends on your rootedness, the deeper you go, the stronger you grow.
- Take care of yourself:
Above all take care of your desire to grow in God, never let it grow cold. In fact do all that you can to fan the flame God has put in you.
Flee from EVERYTHING and EVERYONE that quenches this fire in you, no matter who and what it is.
Feed yourself from the bread of life, drink from the living water and be connected to God ALWAYS.
With this I conclude this post, because if you can continue to passionately desire for God, know that He wants you to grow and take good care of yourself, you are on your way to greatness.
