Hello dear friend,

Greetings to you in Jesus name, today I would like to share few thoughts on “What does it mean to prioritize God?”

We have heard by many preachers and teacher that you need to prioritize God above all, we might have prayed and confessed that God is our 1st priority in life.

But have you thought what does it mean?

Sometimes it is possible that you listened about prioritizing God, thought and confessed about prioritizing God, and might have wanted and tried to prioritize God.

It is possible for someone to listen, think, and say they are prioritizing God; and yet live not accordingly.

The Bible says, seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33.

It is God’s will for us to love Him and seek Him above everything and everyone.

Today I will share 5 things that helps you to understand that you are prioritizing God.

1. Give God the first place in your heart:

The Bible says, love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength.

If our love to God is not full of our heart, mind and strength then it might be an incomplete and divided love.

“O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.” Psalms 63:1 NLT

In this verse we see David is in love with God in his spirit, mind and body; and has placed God above everything and everyone in His life.

Give God His rightful place in your life.

2. Give God the first consideration in every decision.

In every situation of our life we should end up making decisions, most decisions are made based on our feelings and emotions.

But when you prioritize God, you make decisions based on His will for us.

“So David asked the Lord, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?”

The Lord replied to David, “Yes, go ahead. I will certainly hand them over to you.”

2 Samuel 5:19 NLT

David was a warrior, he was a champion; we see David often inquired the Lord before he made any decision.

You should also inquire the Lord first before making any decisions.

3. Give God the first hour of the day.

Every day is the gift from God, and the way we love and honour God is our gift back to Him.

It is important that you start your day with Him, seek Him before you seek anything or anyone.

Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. EACH morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” Psalms 5:3 NLT

The psalmist sought the Lord every morning, even the Lord Jesus spent time with God before meeting anyone.

We should also give God the first hour of our day to the Lord.

4. Give God the first day of the week.

Sunday is considered to be the first day of the week, and it is the day of the Lord.

The Bible says to “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”

Exodus 20:8 NLT

It is the command and that needs to be obeyed.

When you give the day that belongs to Him, you are honouring Him and prioritizing Him.

Sabbath is also considered as day of rest, when you start your day by resting in Him, He will lead you through the week.

Let’s give God His day!

5. Give God the first portion of all your income.

Every blessing you received is a gift from God, and you prioritize God by giving Him the first portion of those blessings to God.

“Bring ALL THE TITHES into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple.

If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will OPEN the WINDOWS of HEAVEN for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!” Malachi 3:10 NLT

May God give you grace and strength by His Spirit to prioritize God above everything and everyone, and as you honour God, may He honour you also in Jesus name I pray. Amen
