Greetings to you in Jesus name.

I want to start by asking you a question, have you hurt anyone?

The reason we hurt people is because we don’t like them, or they don’t belong to us and have no business with them, or they might have hurt us in the past.

But, sadly sometimes we hurt the one who loves us and who is for us, who is with us always, who is helping, leading, guiding and empowering us to live the life God has called us to live in Jesus Christ.

I am talking about the Holy Spirit, the most abused and misunderstood person of the God-head.

Jesus said, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven. Anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven neither in this world nor in the coming. Matthew 12:31-32

Paul writes a letter to the church in Thessalonica and tell them not to grieve the Holy Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:19

It is very important to know that God the Father and Jesus Christ honors the Holy Spirit, therefore we too should. Try not to hurt Him. If you don’t understand Him or His works, it’s ok but never grieve Him by your words, deeds and even in your thoughts.

Today I will share 5 common things you do, that grieves God.

  1. When you don’t recognize Him as GOD:

Many people think Holy Spirit is lesser in everything when compared to God the Father and Jesus Christ. Which in itself is a lie from the hell.

God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit are all equal.

God the Father in the book of Genesis opened His mouth and spoke when the Holy Spirit was hovering on the waters, Jesus being the Son of God was led by the Holy Spirit before He started His earthly ministry.

But, we treat Him as a small or insignificant person in God head.

When you don’t treat Him as God, He is grieved!
Start loving and respecting Him like the way you would to God – the Father and God – the Son.

  1. When you don’t understand Him as PERSON:

So sad to hear people talk about of the Holy Spirit as ‘IT’.

Jesus in the gospel of John chapter 14 and 16, when He talks about the Holy Spirit, He used ‘HE’ to the Holy Spirit.

Which means the Holy Spirit is a person and has a personality and He is a MAN.

How would you feel if people stop recognize you as a person and start recognize you as a thing?

  1. When you don’t understand Him as a gift of God:

Many people try to earn the Holy Spirit by religious living. He comes and indwells you the moment you make Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

The Bible says, Holy Spirit is the ‘gift of God’ Acts 2:38.

Holy Spirit of God is grieved when you don’t understand that He is a gift of God, and don’t use the gift God gave you for His glory.

Imagine if you give someone a gift, thinking that gift would be a blessing/helpful to them; instead the person who receives the gift from you, throws it in some corner and uses for a wrong reason, how would you feel?

Many of us we do the same with the Holy Spirit.

Love Him, Trust Him, follow Him!!

  1. When you are not lead by Him for your destiny:

God has given the Holy Spirit as a gift for a reason, without Him we can never do or fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.

The disciples of Jesus were so privileged to be taught by Him, such a privilege to see and be a part of every miracle He performed, it’s amazing!

Yet to fulfill the call of God, they had to filled and led by the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:1-2

Now, if you want to do everything God has called you to do, you need the Holy Spirit, without Him it’s impossible!

Holy Spirit is the power of God in you, for too long we have suppressed Him and haven’t led Him to be all that He want to do in us and through us.

Welcome Him afresh now and surrender to him with all your heart and mind, let the Holy Spirit take over and put you on track of your destiny.

  1. When you MISTREAT God’s people:

Last but not the least on today’s list, Holy Spirit is grieved when you mistreat or don’t treat people the way you are supposed to treat them in the Lord.

Jesus said, if you haven’t loved and not taken care of the people, you haven’t taken care of Me, but, if you love and take care of the people God has brought your way, it is as if you have taken care of God Himself (Paraphrased). Matthew 25:34-45

Jesus loves everyone, He died for the whole world (past, present and future). The world cannot see Jesus but they can see a person who follows Him.

Holy Spirit in you want to reach people around you to bless them not just spiritually but in every areas of their lives.

You are His channel!

Be sensitive to the voice of God for the people around you. DO NOT GRIEVE HIM!!

As I conclude, I pray that God will give us grace to love the Holy Spirit as He is and live our life the way we should for the glory of God and for the benefits of people around us in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

with much love,

Jeevan & Leena
