Double Portion of anointing from the life of Elisha:
Every born again believer wants to have what Elisha had and it is not wrong. The question is how will you receive that greater anointing?
It is good that we desire for it, but only having the desire alone will not get you there. I remember when I was in my school days, our teacher once asked us, “what is your aim or what do you want to become?” All my class mates came up with good answers but the question is how many of them reached the place where they wanted to be?
Everyone started from that same class room but in a different place at the moment. Everyone would have reached their goal, some are in the process of it and some have lost it or given up on it.
Why do some people reach their goals while some do not?
The only answer is that people tend to get carried away by the things that come in their way. They forget what they want to achieve and they want to become while some think it costs too much to reach where they wanted to be.
There are so many reasons why people miss their goals. But there is only one reason why some people achieve it. It is because they are persistent, hardworking and they never give up under any situations.
The same principle works even in Spiritual life. The only people who can reach their goals are the people who work hard and who do not give up. You see anyone who has been successful in the ministry, they are the people who never give up. Whatever people might say, whatever the situation is, how difficult it might seem, they do give up.
2 kings 2: 1-15: In this passage of scriptures we see a man who was determined to have more anointing than what his master had. His master looked at him and said, you have asked for a tough thing but it is not difficult if you see me taken up into the heavens. 2 king 2:9-10.
The thing you have dream of might be a difficult thing but it is not an impossible thing. All things are possible for them that believe Mark 9:23. Whatever YOU ask when YOU pray if YOU believe YOU will have them Mark 11:24(NKJV).
Elisha had to follow his master Elijah everywhere he went, from Gilgal to Bethel, bethel to Jericho and Jericho to Jordan. After following so far, he might probably be tired. Suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them apart.
When a whirlwind comes the first thing anyone does is close his eyes but for Elisha to receive double portion of his master’s anointing had to keep his eyes open. Probably dust might be filling his eyes but he never gave up.
For us to have a greater anointing on our lives we have to go after Jesus like Elisha did no matter where. Though the problems and doubt might be filling our eyes we have to fix our eyes on our Master Jesus Christ and never gives up. Do not take Jesus out of your sight!
Dear friend seek God, bible says whoever seeks shall find. Guess what happens when you find the Master of all creation, the King of kings and the Lord of lords. You will start to live in miracles, walking in the glory of God.
Run after Jesus, seek Him like never before, I pray that God will give us a heart to long for Him and grace to seek Him in Jesus name.
