Voice of God – How does He speak? How can I listen? Well, these are few of the many questions every child of God has. I hope and pray that this blog would help you.

Did you ever have a desire to listen to the voice of God?

In the early days of my walk with God, I would hear a prophet or a man and woman of God prophesying saying; “Thus says the Lord” or “This is what God’s says”.  I used to wonder and always had a desire to hear the voice of God for myself.

We hear many different voices every day, but I tell you if you hear God speak; you would love His voice and love to hear His alone. The voice of God is so precious and so comforting. His voice carries true joy, peace and blessings.

When you say you want to hear God, you have acquired the real truth about God. Because you can hear only if you know He speaks and if you know that He speaks it means that He is alive because dead cannot speak. The God whom we serve is alive and loves to talk to us and share His heart with us.

Does God speak?

Yes my dear friend, He surely speaks. The reason why you don’t know is because you have never heard Him speak to you or maybe you have heard Him but were not sure if it was Him. But the truth is that God is speaking to you every day. He has been speaking to you even before you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior and surrendered your whole life to Him.

Many a times when you were about to do anything that would bring harm to you or anyone else, would you not hear His voice in your heart saying “No, Don’t do it”. Who do you think was speaking to you my friend? It was God!

Even today if you are about to do something crazy you will hear a voice deep down in your spirit, it is the voice of your Creator. Listen to Him.

How do you get familiar with anybody’s voice? 

The best example is speaking over a phone. May be you speak to your friend everyday and after a while you can easily recognize the voice even without him/her saying their name. It comes from listening to them every day.

As crazy as it sounds, even when he/she catches cold and the voice changes; you can still recognize your friend.

If you take time to listen to Him and do it on a regular basis, then you will hear Him talk to you even when you are surrounded by a huge crowd. You will hear Him speak. So, to hear the voice of God clearly first listen to His small whispers in your heart and spirit.

God spoke to Samuel when he was a little boy in the language/voice he recognized. God speaks in ways you understand.

Why are you not hearing?

One of the main reasons for not being able to hear the voice of the Lord is because you would be paying more attention to the different voices around you.

Whenever you are in need of counseling you run to people for directions and help and forget God who is with you and who knows everything about you and the situation than any other person in the world.

Good Christians will run to their Pastors or a prophet of God for help. There is no wrong at all to see a Pastor or a Man/Woman of God, but running into the presence of God to hear Him is the best and quick solution. God can give you the correct answer and direction than any other man in the world.

Are you ready to hear Him?

Whether you believe it or not, Jesus is still alive and He is the God who speaks. But the bottom-line is will you make a decision to hear His voice?

God is just and not partial, if He spoke to His prophets in the past, He will talk to you. If He spoke to His disciples, He will speak to you. If He is speaking to the men and woman of God of our generation, He will speak to you as well.

Would you give Him a listening ear? And wait sincerely in His Presence for Him to Speak, I tell you when you raise up from prayer you will have heard His voice deep down in your spirit or even audibly.
