Hope you been blessed by our previous posts, today I would like to share few thoughts on reasons of disappointments and how to overcome them.
Disappointment is one of the common disease found in everyone every now and then.
Disappointment can be dangerous if it’s not dealt well, because disappointment leads to discouragements, discouragement leads to rejection, rejection leads to loneliness and loneliness is a killer.
The root cause of all disappointments in life is EXPECTATIONS!
We live in the world full of expectations. Parents expect from children and children from parents, husband expect from wife and wife from children, employee expects from employers and employers from employee, teachers expect from students and students expect from teachers, and pastor expects from a congregation and congregation expects from pastor………
Everyone in every area and everywhere live with expectations. Just because we don’t get what we have expected, we are disappointed, resulting in hatred and bitterness towards our neighbor. SAD!
Disappointment is the weapon of the enemy. Disappointment brings divisions. Disappointment breaks trust. Disappointment opens the door for the enemy to come in and destroy relationship. WAKE UP MY FRIEND!!
To overcome disappointments there are two things you should do;
- Stop expecting from people, and
- Look to Jesus.
I met a man of God few years ago, his name is Simon, on one occasion as we were talking about each other’s prayer life and our needs, this person said something I cannot forget it. It’s been years yet so fresh, he said whenever he is in need he shares his need with two people; 1. God and 2. No-one. WOW!
How true it is, when you have made known your needs to God you don’t need to tell anyone, because you know that God heard your prayers and He is faithful to answer them; even after sharing your needs to God, if you run around telling everyone, you don’t fully trust in God therefore you are looking for help from people around.
If we can make it as a principle that we look to God for every single thing and not expect anything from anyone, God will raise people to bless you and fulfill your needs. When you see people coming blessings and fulfilling your needs, you know it’s God.
Sometimes we stop God from coming our way and surprising us with His goodness and grace is because we are too busy looking and expecting from people.
As long as you look to people, you cannot look to God. As long as you are expecting from people, you will not expect from God. Today, take your eyes off of people and fix it on Jesus who is the author and perfector of your faith.
God is your blessing, everything you will ever need is found in Jesus. When you look to Him with expectations He will never disappoint you, but will do more than you asked and imagined. He takes pleasure in blessing His people.
I am not talking financially, but also physically, emotionally, materially, spiritually, in your marriage, in your family, in your work/job, in your school/colleges, churches, society…… everywhere!!!
God will never disappoint you, though your very close friend/relative anyone can fail you, but you can lean on God anytime and trust me, He is trust worthy and He will never fail you.
As you are reading this post, I pray that God will give you grace to look up to Him for everything and also help you not to trust in anyone too much. As you decide to expect thing for God, may God surprise you and bless you with uncontainable and overflow of the blessings in every area of your life in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen
