Greetings to you in Jesus name.
We are living in the world which is so quick to judge and slow to understand, you might have been a victim of going through such rough path and might have been broken at times. Well today I would like to share few thoughts on criticism and how to overcome it.
The world will pass a negative comment on you when are different from them. People will say, you have changed, what they mean at times is that you have stopped living according to the way they want.
As a child of God, you are not living life based on people’s approval. If you live your life based on peoples praises their criticism will kill you from inside out.
You have a standard, you have to stick to it no matter what, and you never give up on it!! Jesus is your role model as His disciples you should walk in His footsteps.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God was criticized for His way of living. He was righteous and blameless, there was no sin in Him, yet they bad mouthed Him, crucified Him and killed Him. If that can happen to Jesus, your Master, you His servant/friend/child will surely go through it.
Jesus said, I came to my own but they have rejected me John 1:11. He also said, a prophet is honored and respected everywhere except in him own home town and among his relatives and his own family Mark 6:4.
Yet Jesus Christ, The Son of God lived His life in such a way that God the Father looked down on Him and said, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”. How are you living your life? If God has to testify about you, what would be His testimony?
I want to share few things that will help you out of criticisms;
- Expect Criticisms:
When you decide to follow Jesus, the Truth, and begin to do good things and forsake all the evil which you used to do, the first thing you need to expect is criticism from your own family, close friend, relatives, colleagues and your neighbors. This Criticism shows that you have changed (Good and Godly change).
- Criticism proves you don’t belong to them:
Some time being criticized is good, because it tells that you don’t belong to them. If you are not criticized by the worldly and godless people then you need to check your life because there’s something wrong happening in your walk with God. This criticism proves that you belong to God.
- Rejoice in criticism:
It’s normal to be broken, disappointed and discouraged when people don’t accept you. (I want you to read the blog I wrote on overcoming disappointments http://wp.me/p4fXYd-hH).
But, the Bible commands you to be glad and rejoice Matthew 5:11-12, because you are in the team of prophets of God, for they too were mocked, criticized and persecuted like you.
You are among the good godly people!
- Prepares you for rewards:
The Bible says, be very happy and be very glad Matthew 5:12.
I know when you go through criticism it’s really hard to stand it and let go of it, yet don’t give up! I want to envision the future, where God the Father will be so proud of you and Jesus will so happy that you chose to display the character of being His true disciple and the Holy Spirit will be pleased for taking His help in the process.
Not just God will be happy, but He will also give you rewards. These are eternal!
Before I conclude I want to remind to you the scripture portion from James 1:2-4.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you and may the help and the power of the Holy Spirit lead you from glory to glory in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.
