Hello dear friend,
Honor is to regard someone with great respect.
When you honor someone, you always have time for them, and you would be willing to go out of your way and do everything that brings joy to that person.
1 Samuel 2:30(b): but, now the Lord says…. for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.
Our obedience to God is the result of honoring God.
The more you honor God, the more you will obey Him. Love Him – Honor Him – Obey Him. Let this be our life!!
Today I would like to share why you should honor God.
- You are the body of Jesus Christ:
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27
The day you believed in Jesus, and accepted Him as your only Lord and Savior, that day God made you the part of Jesus’ body.
Wow, what a privilege to be made one with Jesus Christ in the body!
Every time you take part in the Lord’s Table, you are affirming that you and Jesus are one in body and His blood flows in your veins.
Because you are the body of Jesus Christ, you should honor God with your body!
- You are purchased by God:
For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:20
We were all sinners, on our way to face God’s wrath but God who is so rich in mercy and love, that He has purchased our freedom through the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son.
Paul says, I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Now, you don’t belong to yourselves, you completely belong to Him, He owns you. Therefore honor God with your body!
- You are the temple of God:
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17.
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. Acts 17:24, Acts 7:48
Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that?’ asks the LORD. ‘Could you build me such a resting place? Isaiah 66:1, Acts 7:48
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Isaiah 40:12
These few verses states how awesome and majestic is our God, yet He chooses to make our body as His dwelling place.
He is in you, with you always. You are His c/o address.
You might say, I love God in my heart and mind, praise God for that; but let’s honor Him with our body.
Honor God with your thoughts, your imaginations, with what you see, with your words, with your actions……. every single thing that we are and that we do, let it honor God.
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16.
Prayer: Father, thank you for giving us grace to love you and obey you and to honor you with our bodies, we surrender to you. Precious Holy Spirit have your way in us, in Jesus name we pray. Amen.
