Greetings to you in Jesus name. Hope you are safe, healthy, and doing good in the grace and mercies of God. I pray that God will keep you healthy and also provide all your needs in Jesus name. Amen
I have been pastoring for nearly 15 years to the churches in different cities, in different states in India, and with different people groups. One thing that bothers me a lot is when people in the church fail to know, understand, and live their God given purpose.
One of the reasons I can think of is, either the church is not taught about their purpose as a disciple of Jesus Christ or they thought it is too much of a risk and sacrifice to contribute to the church. Therefore people in the church are comfortable to do their weekly obligations, than being a blessing God intended them to be.
The Bible says, and He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers. Ephesians 4:11.
The Bible also says, God has given different gifts to different people in the church; like prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, generously giving, leading others, showing kindness, loving, hardworking, helping, praying, practicing hostility, and many others. Romans 12:6-8 (paraphrased).
Dear reader, I want to ask you “what is your office/calling, in the church where God has placed you, and what is your God given gift(s)?” God has a unique reason to place you in the church, if you are not doing what you are chosen for then because of you, there will be a lack in the functioning of the church.
Church is the body of Christ, and Lord Jesus is the head, and everyone in the church has different functions and responsibilities just like your body has different organs and different functions. If one part of the body is hurt, the whole body suffers.
We should play our part in the church (locally), which will definitely influence the universal church. Do not compare your calling and gifts to others in the church, and be discouraged (It is the work of the enemy to create jealousy, divisions, backbiting, hatred, and so many other sinful things).
A church is a team, you are not against one another, but the church should function as one team fighting against the plans and schemes of the devil in the church, in the family, and in the city God has put you.
The office/calling and gifts God gave you has a unique purpose, it is surely not for show off and look down on others, but only to equip and build in the church, and to the world through the church. Ephesians 4:12.
Equipping and building is a life time process, you need to commit yourself to do it until you have witnessed the maturity of the church (into Christ’s likeness), or until you have reached the goal or the vision of the church.
Dear friend, remember your church requires you badly, your contribution to the church is needed to reach the purpose God gave to the body of Christ. Be fully committed to love God, love your church, and do everything you can to see your church be greatly blessed to be a blessing to the world around it.
May God give you grace to love your church, and to serve your church faithfully, and also to glorify Jesus’ name in and through the church. May God bless you and use you to be a good steward of the calling and gifts He has given to you in Jesus name I pray. Amen
