Hello dear friend,
Greetings to you in Jesus name. I hope you and your family are doing well, please take good care of yourself and if you can be a help to the people who are in need.
I pray may God protect you and your family from all the virus and every attack of the enemy, and may God also provide you everything you need according to His glorious riches in Jesus Christ our Lord.
God created Adam (the first man on earth) in His own image and likeness, because of sin through disobedience mankind lost the image of God.
God’s ultimate purpose for us His people is to be restored into His own image and likeness.
Can we be restored into the image of God?
How can we become like God?
Today I would like to help you to be a better imitator of God, but the question I want to ask you is, do you want to be like your Creator?
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Ephesians 5:1 NLT.
Apostle Paul in His letter to the church in Ephesus is saying them to “IMITATE GOD”. The Word Imitate also means to replicate or copy.
Why to imitate God?
- Because He is your Father.
- You have His DNA in your spirit.
Is God your Father? The kind of life you live, reveals who you are, and to whom you belong!
How to imitate God?
For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. Colossians 2:9 NLT.
Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour is the exact replica of our Father in heaven.
The completeness of God is manifested in the life of Jesus Christ. When you see Jesus, you see the Father; when you hear Jesus, you have heard the Father.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, all who believe in Jesus as Lord and Saviour are made the sons of God. Jesus is the Seed, and we are His fruits.
You cannot imitate the father without Jesus Christ (the Word), and the Spirit of God. The more you allow the Word and the Spirit of God to work in your life, by submitting and to be led; you are transforming into God’s image and likeness.
3 Things that will help you to imitate the Father:
- By overcoming sin:
What is sin? Sin is disobeying God by compromising to the Word of God and to the standards of God.
We are living in the world where we are surrounded with sinful things, and at times you would be a position where you are tempted to please yourself and please others at the cost of grieving God.
As you surrender to God every day, and be conscious about your words and actions (lifestyle); and desire to live the life God has called you to live, and make wise Godly decisions, then you would lose the grip of sin over your life.
2. By knowing your identity:
One of the things that help you overcome sinful living is by knowing who you are and whose you are.
Jesus said, I AM the Light of the world John 8:12, and the Bible also says that you are the light of the world Matthew 5:14.
You become the light of the world when you allow the Light of God to shine through you. Jesus said, let your light so shine before men (people) that they might see your good works and praise your Father in heaven Matthew 5:16.
Light is your identity, do not entertain the things of darkness (sin) in your life. Consecrate and devote yourself to shine like Jesus Christ daily.
3. By pleasing God:
Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Ephesians 5:10 NLT
One of the greatest prayers of king David is, May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer Psalms 14:19
If king David had a desire to please the Lord without having the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, and without the infilling of the Holy Spirit like the way we do, how much more we should desire to please God.
Dear friend, as we desire to imitate God and deliberately choose to be like Him, may God give you grace and equip your spirit, soul, and body to overcome sin, and to live in your identity and please Him always; and may you be transformed in the image and the likeness of God in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen
