Hello dear friend,
Greetings to you in Jesus name, I hope you are doing well in the grace and mercies of God. I pray, may God continue to protect you from all the plans of the enemy and supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Jesus name.
We don’t need an introduction to temptation, because we are no stranger to it. We face different kinds of temptation in every area of our life, almost every day.
As soon as Jesus took water baptism, the Spirit descended on Him, and Father approved Him as His beloved Son.
And at once the Spirit sent Him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him. Mark 1:12-13.
We learn very important lessons from this context;
- Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit:
Jesus is the Son of God, and yet He was led by the Holy Spirit. The very important question we need to ask ourselves is who and what is leading us?
We can understand how our life will be based on who and what leads us. If Jesus being the Son of God was led by the Holy Spirit, how much more we need the leading of the Holy Spirit in our day to day life.
2. Jesus was in wilderness:
Many times we consider wilderness as curse, dry and unproductive, and unpleasant life.
Why did the Holy Spirit lead Lord Jesus into the wilderness?
Wherever the Holy Spirit leads us, it’s for a purpose. “No wilderness is the wilderness when God is with you in it”. If you are always in wilderness like situations then there is something wrong in it.
Wilderness can be your testing and training season or training ground. When Jesus came out of the wilderness after 40 days, He came in the power of the Holy Spirit. Wilderness should transform you to be a better person before God and before the world to serve better.
3. Jesus was tempted:
God cannot tempt you to do evil. The devil is the tempter to do sinful things and ungodly things.
Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days, but He did not give Himself to the schemes of the devil, He overcame them. Jesus faced all of the same testing and temptations as we do, yet He did not sin. Hebrews 4:15
Being tempted is not a sin, but when you give yourself to the temptation, then it’s a sin.
4. How did Jesus overcome temptation?
Every time the devil tempted Jesus, Jesus overcame through the scriptures from the Bible.
It is not just important for you to be a Christian, you need to grow in the knowledge of the Word of God, and you also need wisdom how and when to use the scriptures. Else you would be using the scriptures for everything and anything.
The bible says, how can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. Psalms 116:9
It is important that you begin to spend some time reading, studying, and meditating the Word of God. If you do not have the Word, you will give yourself to the things of the world.
I want to remind you that Jesus didn’t try to have a conversation with the devil making effort to convince him while being tempted. When the devil was tempting Jesus, He said “get out of here satan, and he went away”.
5. Receive the help of the angels:
While you are correctly using the Word of God, and being harsh with the devil when tempted, you need to allow God to help you supernaturally in your weakness.
Jesus was ministered by the angels, you too need the ministry of his Angels. You will get heavenly help when you are dealing your situation in a godly way.
I pray, may God give you grace to overcome every temptation of the devil with the help of the Word of God, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, and also with the supernatural ministry of the angels, in Jesus name. Amen
With much love and blessings,
