Hello dear friend,

Greetings to you in Jesus name.

I hope you are doing well in the grace and mercies of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray, may you continue to stay strong and healthy, may God also provide all your needs according to His riches in glory in Jesus Christ our Lord.

The anointing of God is one of the greatly desired and prayed thing in the charismatic and Pentecostal churches and fellowship.

An anointing is to set apart, by smearing/pouring of oil on someone or something for the Kingdom of God. In the Old Testament some things and people (priests and kings) were anointed by the pouring of the oil to set apart for the specific purpose.

The Lord Jesus is also called the Christ, which means the anointed One.

The Bible says, God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him. Acts 10:38.

In the book of Luke chapter 4, after Jesus’ baptism, and His season in the wilderness where He was tempted by the devil for 40 days and nights, He returned to Galilee in the power of the Holy Spirit. He came to Nazareth, went into a synagogue on Sabbath and stood up and read “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Luke 4:18 NIV

Jesus was chosen (means to select and set apart) before the creation of the world, but He was revealed in these last times for your sake. 1 Peter 1:20 NIV.

The anointing of God has lot of effects, and we see in His life and in His earthly ministry. We will pick up for a passage in Mark 3:7-12 and we will see how the anointing of God has resulted in His life;

  1. People followed Him from all direction. Mark 3:7-8

In Jesus’ days there was no advertisement, no social media, no internet, and yet people would know that Jesus was in particular place, and people would come from all directions to see and hear Him.

The anointing of God will always draw people to you, because the anointing is attractive.

When you know you are anointed, you need to be careful because it will not only attract people who will be a blessing to you but also attract enemies (people and demonic spirits). That’s why we see many men and women of God who are anointed have been a victim of temptation.

The anointing of God can be a great blessing to build and expand the Kingdom of God, but if you don’t know how to handle it carefully in the grace and mercies of God, the same can be dangerous.

Our Master and Saviour Lord Jesus Christ though He was God and the anointed one, He had to stay closer to the Father in prayer; and because of His unbroken communion with God He overcame every temptation.

2. People were pushing to touch Him. Mark 3:10

The anointing of God will make you a spiritual and supernatural person.

Jesus was the Man of unusual power, we see in the gospels that He healed many people with various sickness and disease and He also raised the dead. Without the anointing of God on His life, it would be hard for Jesus to function in that unusual power.

Jesus was drenched in the power of God, therefore people were pushing themselves to touch Him, because of oozing healing power.

We see even in our days that people would want to be laid hands by the anointed men and women of God for them to receive blessings. The anointing of God on your life will empower you to bring healing and deliverance to the people who comes in contact with you.

3. The evil spirits trembles at His presence. Mark 3:11

We also see throughout the gospels that whenever an evil spirits saw Jesus, they would get so uncomfortable, they would fall on their face before Him and cry out that He is the Son of God.

The anointing of God on Jesus’ life was a threat to the demonic world. Demons could see, recognize, and differentiate between the anointed and common people.

Dear friend, I want to remind you today that you too are chosen by God the Father just as Jesus was. The bible says in the book of Ephesians 1:4 God has chosen us in Jesus Christ even before the creation of the world, and Jesus looked at His followers and said, you did not choose me but I chose you John 15:16, and the day you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour God comes and lives inside of you through His Spirit.

Now when God has chosen you in Jesus Christ, and you have accepted Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Saviour, and when God is living inside of you, don’t you think you too are anointed?

It is possible for you to be anointed and not been functioning in the anointing, it is not God’s mistake but yours. In order for you to see the full manifestation of the anointing of God on your life, like Jesus you too must stay connected to God by spending time with Him in prayer, and by choosing to obey Him always and desiring to do His will, you will begin to live the supernatural life for the glory of God.

I pray, may you grow in your anointing this season in Jesus might name. Amen

With much love and prayers,
