Hello dear friend,

Greetings to you in Jesus name.

Hope you are doing well in the grace and mercies of God. I pray, may God continue to protect you and provide you everything you need according to His glorious riches in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Before we go any further I want to ask you, who is a disciple according to you? Because Jesus had thousands of followers but not everyone who followed Jesus were His disciples, and not everyone who believe and confess Him as Lord are His disciples because whenever the evil spirits/demons saw Jesus they confessed Jesus is Lord.

You might have your definition, but here is mine; “a disciple is someone who is following Jesus, and whose life is getting transformed after the Master, and who is committed to the mission/assignment of the Lord.”

Why did Jesus choose disciples?

He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons. Mark 3:14-15

I want to share few things from these verses;

  1. The disciples were chosen by Jesus.

Jesus did not randomly picked up His disciples, the bible says that He spent all night praying and then He chose them.

There are so many people who are proud about their decision to follow Jesus, but the truth is God has chosen us even before we were born in our mother’s womb, and in His time He gave us grace to choose Him.

Remember today that you are chosen by God to be a disciple of Jesus Christ our Lord, we need to be thankful that He found us worthy.

2. The disciples might be with Jesus.

Jesus did not choose disciples to only witness the miracles He was doing or only listen to His sermons, but to live with Him.

It is God’s desire that we stay in constant fellowship with God through His Word and Spirit. He doesn’t want us to be a seasonal Christians, or weekly (Sunday) Christians, but people who walk with Him closer and closer until we reflect Him fully here on earth.

Stay closer to God today, tomorrow, and all the tomorrows of your life.

3. The disciples might be sent by Jesus.

The word Apostle, comes from a Greek work apostlos which mean sent ones.

We see in the gospels that Jesus sent His disciples and then they went and preached, and served the people and the places in the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are living in a generation that people are in a hurry to make their gifts and calling known to the people, very rarely we see men/women are willing to be hidden and wait in the presence of God until they are sent by Him.

Wait until your time is right, and until you are equipped in the presence of God.

4. The disciples would be empowered to preach and cast out demons.

Whenever Jesus sends, He sends them fully equipped to finish the task.

The bible says that the disciples might be with Him and He might send them to preach and cast out demons. Your preaching and other ministry, and ministry gifts should be the outpour of the presence and revelation of God.

It is the Lord who empowers us His disciples to preach and to set the people free from every oppression of the enemy. It is impossible for you to be with Jesus and not sending you out to be a blessing, and you imitate Him in building and expanding the Kingdom of God.

Dear friend, I pray may God give you grace to dwell in His Presence, meditating on the precious Word of God and be led by the Spirit to live a blessed and victorious life in Jesus name. Amen

With much love and prayers,
