Marriage is a divine relationship established by God for our good. Many find it as a puzzling process. There are equal numbers of people who are eager to get married and who want to get out of the relationship called marriage.

The first marriage ever was conducted by God in the Garden of Eden, when God created everything, He said it good, it is good, it is good and He even created man in His own image and likeness, and man was alone. God said that it is not good for man to be alone so He made Eve to be his helper.

Once I was invited to preach at a wedding in Andhra Pradesh. I was in prayer asking God to teach me about marriage because I was unmarried at that time and I did not know what was marriage all about. Yes, I did a study and prepared notes on it but I was asking for something new from God. As I was in prayer, God reminded me that the whole bible talks about marriage ‘The Bible begins with marriage and ends up with marriage’ and We are preparing for that great marriage where Jesus will be our bridegroom and we His bride!

Marriage can be most gratifying and satisfying of all relationships but if you don’t understand marriage it can be very frustrating. There are different responsibilities for husband and wife in a marriage and if we can fulfill them then our marriage life would be really a happy one.

This is the golden rule; in Eph 5:22 and Eph 5:25

For wives: It says Wives be SUBMISSIVE to your husbands as to the Lord. Eph 5:22

The word submissive is be-obedient, under submission;

How? As to the Lord!

Why? Col 3:18: because it is fitting for you in the Lord.

Gen 3:16: ….’He will rule over you’.

            1 pet 3:1: …..’To win a soul’.

For Husbands: It says Husbands LOVE your wife as Christ loved the Church. Eph 5:25

The word love in Greek is agape means unconditional.

How you have to love? As Christ loved the Church.

How you have to treat them?

Col 3:19: Do not harsh them

1 pet 3:7:  Treat them with respect

Gen 2:24: Leave your parents and Cleave to your wife.

This is the foundation truths for our marriage, and addition to this “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Eph 5:21

Remember: “What God has joined let no man separate”. Mark 10:9, never, never ever thinks divorce is the solution for your marriage.

Have a blessed married life,

Jeevan n Leena
